"SECTION 49-O OF THE 1969 ACT".

Did you know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section "49-O" that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone!
Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called "49-O".
Why should you go and say "I VOTE NOBODY"... because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received "49-O" votes more than 123, then that polling will be cancelled and will have to be re-polled. Not only that, but the candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot contest the re-polling, since people had already expressed their decision on them. This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for election. This would change the way, of our whole political system... it is seemingly surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public....

Church run colleges among the best in India

All India Institute of Medical Sciences was ranked the top college.

CMC, Vellore

New Delhi:  A leading news magazine has rated Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore as the second best medical college in India.

India Today put the All India Institute of Medical Sciences on top of medical schools in India in its annual survey of 2012.

The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry was ranked third followed by Armed Forces Medical College, Pune.

CMC founded by American medical missionary Dr Ida Sophia Scudder has “gained immensely from the synergy of a well-reputed hospital…. and run with tremendous commitment," India Today wrote.

A total of 2,000 students are enrolled in 150 different postgraduate courses in the medical, nursing and allied health disciplines.

The magazine noted that the alumni of the century-old Christian institution had several public health specialists, including civil rights activist Binayak Sen and Magsaysay Award winner Rajnikant Arole.

In this mercenary age, CMC still produces medical professionals ready to offer unflinching public service to the nation, the magazine remarked.

CMC, which started in the year 1900, “seeks to be a witness to the healing ministry of Christ, through excellence in education, service and research”.

"We continue to strive to ensure that our growth in size and numbers is matched by a growth in the depth of our caring and commitment…,” CMC Vellore director, Suranjan Bhattacharji was quoted saying.

Another Christian medical institution St John's Medical College, Bangalore, run by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India, was listed as the ninth best medical college in the India Today Nielsen survey.

In addition to medical colleges, the India Today survey also listed the best colleges in the Arts, Commerce, Science, Law, Medicine, Engineering, BBA and BCA categories.

While Christ University, Bangalore topped the BBA and BCA categories, St. Stephen's College, Delhi ranked first in Science and second in Arts.

The Arts category has St. Xavier's College, Mumbai ranked third, Loyola College, Chennai fourth, St. Xavier's College, Kolkata fifth and Christ College, Bangalore sixth.

Recipe #1
3 Pints Water 1/3 Bar Fels Naptha Soap, Grated 1/2 Cup Washing Soda 1/2 Cup Borax 2 Gallon Bucket 1 Quart Hot Water Cold Water
Mix Fels Naptha soap in a saucepan with 3 pints of water, and heat on low until dissolved. Stir in Washing Soda and Borax. Stir until thickened, and remove from heat. Add 1 Quart Hot Water to 2 Gallon Bucket. Add soap mixture, and mix well. Fill bucket with hot water, and mix well. Set aside for 24 hours, or until mixture thickens. Use 1/2 cup of mixture per load.

Recipe #2
1 Cup Grated Fels Naptha Soap 1/2 Cup Washing Soda 1/2 Cup Borax 2 Tablespoons Glycerin 2 Gallons Hot Water (NOTE: This recipe originally called for 2 Cups Water)
Mix all three ingredients together. Add glycerin and water. Use 1/2 - 3/4 cup per load. Best when used with cold or warm water.

Recipe #3
Water 1 Bar Fels Naptha Soap, Grated 5 Gallon Bucket 1 Cup Washing Soda 4 1/2 Gallons Hot Water
Place grated soap in a small saucepan and cover with water. Heat on low until dissolved. Fill bucket with hot water, and add soap. Stir to combine. Add 1 cup washing soda and mix well. As it cools it will thicken. May be used immediately. Use 1-2 cups per load.

Powdered Laundry Detergent
1 Cup Grated Fels Naptha Soap 1/2 Cup Washing Soda 1/2 Cup Borax
For light load, use 1 tablespoon. For heavy or heavily soiled load, use 2 tablespoons.

TIPS
• Liquid detergent can also be used as a pretreater for stains.
• Ivory Soap, Deodorant Soap, and Beauty Bars can be substituted for the Fels Naptha Soap.
• Essential Oils can be added to soap for fragrance.

WHERE TO FIND INGREDIENTS
Fels-Naptha® Laundry Soap Bar: Made by the Dial Soap Company, so any store that carries Dial should be able to get it for you. If they carry it, it will be found in the bar soap or laundry soap aisle at your regular supermarket. It is usually on the bottom shelf. If you can't find it in your area, try Ivory Soap instead.
Super Washing Soda: Washing Soda can be found on the laundry detergent aisle of your supermarket. It comes in a 55-ounce yellow box. Baking soda SHOULD NOT be used in place of washing soda. They are completely different products, although they are both made by Arm & Hammer.
Borax: One brand name is 20 Mule Team® Borax. It is also found on the laundry detergent aisle.

Short Stories

A little girl stood near a small church from which she had been turned away because it was "too crowded."

"I can't go to Sunday School," she sobbed to the pastor as he walked by.

Seeing her shabby, unkempt appearance, the pastor guessed the reason and, taking her by the hand, took her inside and found a place for her in the Sunday school class. The child was so happy that they found room for her, and she went to bed that night thinking of the children who have no place to worship Jesus.

Some two years later, this child lay dead in one of the poor tenement buildings. Her parents called for the kindhearted pastor who had befriended their daughter to handle the final arrangements.

As her poor little body was being moved, a worn and crumpled red purse was found which seemed to have been rummaged from some trash dump.

Inside was found 57 cents and a note, scribbled in childish handwriting, which read: "This is to help build the little church bigger so more children can go to Sunday School."

For two years she had saved for this offering of love.

When the pastor tearfully read that note, he knew instantly what he would do. Carrying this note and the cracked, red pocketbook to the pulpit, he told the story of her unselfish love and devotion.

He challenged his deacons to get busy and raise enough money for the larger building.

But the story does not end there...

A newspaper learned of the story and published It. It was read by a wealthy realtor who offered them a parcel of land worth many thousands.

When told that the church could not pay so much, he offered to sell it to the little church for 57 cents.

Church members made large donations. Checks came from far and wide. 
Within five years the little girl's gift had increased to $250, 000.00--a huge sum for that time (near the turn of the century). Her unselfish love had paid large dividends.

When you are in the city of Philadelphia , look up Temple Baptist Church , with a seating capacity of 3,300. And be sure to visit TempleUniversity, where thousands of students are educated.

Have a look, too, at the Good Samaritan Hospital and at a Sunday School building which houses hundreds of beautiful children, built so that no child in the area will ever need to be left outside during Sunday school time.

In one of the rooms of this building may be seen the picture of the sweet face of the little girl whose 57 cents, so sacrificially saved, made such remarkable history. Alongside of it is a portrait of her kind pastor, Dr. Russell H. Conwell, author of the book, "Acres of Diamonds".

This is a true story, which goes to show WHAT GOD CAN DO WITH 57 CENTS.

Its just a mix of water, brown sugar and yeast. 

1. Cut a plastic bottle in half, keep both parts. Can be soft drink bottle. 
2. Take the lower portion of the bottle. Dissolve the brown sugar in hot water. 
Let it cool down to ~70 deg F. 
3. Add the yeast. Carbon dioxide will form(This will attract the mosquitoes) 
4. Cover the bottle with a dark wrap and insert in the top portion upside down like a funnel. Place it in a corner in your house. 
5. In 2 weeks you will be surprised by the number of mosquitoes killed.

Captain Sullenberger, who safely landed his US Airways plane on the Hudson River in New York on Jan 15, 2009 and saved 155 lives, has kindly agreed to "meet and greet" our Goa Sudharop supporters, well-wishers, volunteers and friends/family this Thursday, June 7, 2012, at 6:30pm.

Captain Sullenberger is an American hero, and has been honored by the US Congress, the US President, etc. He is working on airline safety and medical safety issues now and has just released his second book "Making a Difference: Stories of Vision and Courage from America's Leaders". He will personally sign your copy of his book (available at the COSTCO store) and also take a group photo with our Goa Sudharop group.

1. Population Foundation of India (PFI)made a presentation in the CCM meeting held on 1st June 2012 covering facts and figures with regard to INP+ issue, OIGs demands. PFI placed the facts on record in response to the attempts by a few network members in misinforming HIV/AIDS community, the CCM members and others, and explained the reasons for not submitting their proposal for phase 2 in spite the complete proposal has been developed and kept ready.

It also mentioned that PFI is willing to apply for phase 2 if the issues mentioned in the documents enclosed herewith are resolved. �

This document brings out the facts with regard to INP+ issue, chronology of events since beginning, its efforts with CCM, GF, and INP+ in resolving the issue over the last two years, its efforts in directly continuing the service delivery to the PLHIV community in more than 200 districts, and how it is fraught for PFI to continue as the PR for RCC .

Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Dempo Sports Club-acho, bhagidar zata?

BY SUDHAKAR SHANBHAG | NTPANAJI: Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is close to signing a deal with Dempo Sports Club, in which he will buy a sizeable stake. In a momentous move, which may boost fan-following and popularise football in Goa and the rest of India, the Kolkata Knight Riders owner, whose team won their maiden Indian Premier League crown last Sunday, is set to fulfil his dream of promoting soccer. No doubt, the stakes of Dempo Sports Club Pvt Ltd are certainly going to rise in the new football season, now that Dempo Group chairman and Club’s president, Mr Shrinivas V Dempo has officially announced that Shah Rukh Khan would connect with the I-League football winners (Dempo) in the capacity of an “investor”. Until Thursday the identity of the Bollywood star, eyeing stakes in Dempo Sports Club, was kept under wraps; but on Friday, Mr Dempo disclosed that it was none other than Shah Rukh Khan himself whose passion for sports in general and also for football had convinced him to look to Dempo SC and own stakes in the club. No doubt that SRK’s passion for sports is vindicated by the fact that he owns an IPL franchise and that his joy knew no bounds, as was evident, when his team was crowned the new IPL champs last Sunday - a moment Shah Rukh Khan had to wait for five years to celebrate. Sports has also been part of SRK’s Silver Screen venture when he played the role of an inspiring hockey coach in the popular Bollywood flick ‘Chak De India.’ Therefore, his interest to venture into a popular sport like football and show interest in another champion football club of India in Dempo, seemed to be on expected lines. Speaking to The Navhind Times on Friday, Mr Shrinivas Dempo while divulging into the details about Shah Rukh Khan’s interest in owing stakes with Dempo SC, said: “The talks are progressing. We are yet to decide on the exact details such as how much percentage share will he hold and how will he come into the set up. Certain issues need to be ironed out before we take the next step.” Mr Dempo, however, added that if Shah Rukh had to come in, he would hopefully be coming in as an “investor” in the club. “If Mr Khan comes in as an investor, he will get a Board representation to the extent of his share holding,” revealed Mr Dempo. Mr Dempo believes that SRK’s entry into Dempo SC will definitely help in increasing the club’s fan support and also boost the club’s revenue. “Besides, Mr Shah Rukh’s involvement can boost and motivate the team as well,” Mr Dempo emphasised, praising Shah Rukh Khan for being very passionate about football. Mr Dempo revealed that actually he had met the Bollywood star last year as he had come to know about his passion for football through some common friends and investment bankers. “In a sense, the talks had been initiated almost a year back when we heard through some common friends and investment bankers about Mr Shah Rukh being passionate about football. That was the time when we made a pitch to him as to why don’t you look at football.” “So when Mr Shah Rukh came to know that Dempos are interested, he immediately reciprocated and said he would like to look at football with interest as a sport. And, that’s where it all started and so it has been almost a year now that we initiated discussions with him,” stated Mr Dempo. Asked how far have the talks now actually progressed after first establishing contact with the superstar, Mr Dempo revealed that actually he had met with Shah Rukh just recently, which was a couple of months back. “Mr Shah Rukh did ask me a lot about Indian football. As things stand, we hope all the issues are settled and things are ironed out within the next month or so.” “There’s no doubt that Mr Shah Rukh has expressed interest not only in Dempo SC but has also shown an inclination to do something for Indian football and that’s very very positive,” continued the Dempo SC boss. “We are hopeful that both our lawyers will meet soon and close the deal,” Mr Dempo added. On a personal count, Mr Dempo described SRK to be an extremely pragmatic person and the one who was very well read, well informed, intelligent and a quick decision maker. “From the perspective of striking a deal we had our doubts sorted out so that hereafter we could actually look into the commercial and economical aspects of the deal. All in all, Mr Shah Rukh, apart from his greatness in acting, seemed to be a very smart businessman. In fact, it was a pleasure to be in talks with him,” signed off Mr Dempo.
